What is the Friends and Family Test?
The Friends and Family Test is used to gather anonymous feedback about your experience at the surgery. The feedback you provide is beneficial as it enables us to find out what we do well and which areas of patient care need improvement. As the feedback you give is anonymous it will not be stored with your medical records or any information about yourself.
How does the test work?
If you choose to complete the test, you will be asked: ‘How likely are you to recommend our GP practice to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?’ To respond to this question you can choose from options ranging from ‘Extremely Likely’ to ‘Extremely Unlikely.’
After answering this question you will be asked, ‘Thinking about your response to this question, what is the main reason why you feel this way?’ Here you will have the opportunity to provide your comments in more detail based on your first response.
How can I give feedback?
You can complete the Friends and Family test after an appointment at the surgery, a telephone consultation, home visit or after enquiring about a test result or prescription. The paper forms are available to take from the desk at reception and can be completed while you are at the surgery or can be taken away to complete at your convenience. Paper forms can be submitted by placing them in the box in reception next to the forms. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can use the online form on our website.
Who can give feedback?
Any patient who is registered with this Practice can give feedback. If you are the patient’s parent or carer you may also give feedback. Feedback can be given each time you contact the surgery if you decide to.
Do I have to participate in the Friends and Family Test?
Participation is completely optional. However, your feedback is important to us as it helps us to provide the best possible care and experience for you.
Can I have help with answering the questions?
If you need help with answering the questions, your carers, friends, family or a member of staff may help you but should not provide the answers for you.
If you do not wish for your anonymous comments to be shared, please opt out while completing the Friends and Family Test.
How is my feedback and comments used?
The Practice will collate the results periodically and staff will meet to decide on any action that needs to be taken. The results are made available on our surgery website. The results received will also be discussed at our Patient Reference Group meetings in order to agree actions and analyse progress.
